About Hot Mass

Hot Mass is an after-hours electronic music party in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, held since December 2012. For more than a decade it ran on Saturday nights on the second floor of 1139 Penn Avenue, a building owned by the private gay club Club Pittsburgh, which let it stay open past the city's 2am bar closing time. It grew out of DJ Aaron Clark's parties, and Club Pittsburgh manager John McMarlin convinced him to make it weekly. Rotating crews ran the nights, and the monthly Honcho party is aimed at a gay crowd. Guests have included The Black Madonna, Daniel Bell, Mike Servito and Theo Parrish. In February 2025 Hot Mass moved to an undisclosed new space, where it now runs roughly every other weekend; tickets are online only and the address is emailed on the night.
