About AVALON Hollywood
AVALON Hollywood is a nightclub in a 1927 theatre at 1735 North Vine Street, near Hollywood and Vine. It sits across the street from the Capitol Records Building. The building opened on 24 January 1927 as The Hollywood Playhouse, designed in a Spanish Baroque style, and was later the El Capitan Theatre, an NBC and ABC television studio known as The Hollywood Palace, and the concert club The Palace. Hollywood Entertainment Partners bought it in September 2002 and renamed it Avalon.
The main room keeps the theatre layout with a stage, dancefloor and balcony, and upstairs is Bardot, a smaller 1920s styled space used for live music and club nights. The sound system uses EAW line arrays with Void Incubus subwoofers, and the room is lined with LED screens. Friday and Saturday club nights are presented by Insomniac, with brands such as Factory 93, Dreamstate, Bassrush and Night Trip covering house, techno, trance and bass.
