About Electric Castle Festival
Electric Castle returns for its 13th edition from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 July 2027 at Bánffy Castle in Bonțida, a village in the Transylvanian countryside north-east of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The dates come from the festival’s own website, which already carries a save-the-date page and a dedicated 2027 tickets page for passes, camping and accommodation. The 2027 line-up has not been announced yet; this page will be updated when the first names are out.
The festival has grown every year since its first edition in 2013. The organisers report that the 12th edition, held from 16 to 19 July 2026 with The Cure and Twenty One Pilots at the top of the bill, drew more than 262,000 attendees, with over 250 artists and around 18,000 people living in the camping. Previous editions have brought Justin Timberlake, Queens of the Stone Age, Massive Attack, Florence + The Machine, Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Skrillex, Justice, Chase & Status and deadmau5 to the castle grounds.
What makes Electric Castle different from the bigger Romanian festivals is the setting and the clock. The stages, art installations, talks, stand-up comedy and food areas are spread around a 15th-century castle and its park, and the organisers describe it as one of the few truly 24-hour festivals in Europe, with rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic music running from the afternoon into the morning. The festival also puts money into restoring the castle itself; the roof was repaired with festival-backed donations.
EC Village, the festival camping, is the largest festival campsite in Romania and opens ahead of the main programme, with car camping, RV pitches and glamping. Dedicated EC trains run from Cluj-Napoca in about 40 minutes, and all national trains stop in Bonțida during the festival, which is the easiest way in. If you are planning a Romanian summer, UNTOLD 2027 takes over Cluj-Napoca a few weeks later, Galaxia 2027 runs on the Black Sea coast the same week and Sziget 2027 follows in Budapest in August.
