About OCTOBLAST
Octoblast opens the New Zealand summer season at Te Arai from 6pm on 23 October to 3pm on 25 October 2026, with the 2026 edition titled The Grand Awakening. The site is forest north of Auckland and the organisers pitch it as the first gathering after winter, bringing three separate music communities onto one piece of land.
Those three are techno, psytrance and bass music, each with its own custom built stage, and the organisers are explicit that none of the stages stay locked to a genre: all three shift across the electronic spectrum from sunrise to deep night so that attendees can move between them. A fourth area houses the workshop sanctuary, with a live band stage, circus and flow performers, a market village and what the organisers call secret surprises scattered through the forest.
Tickets ran in releases from an early bird at 279 New Zealand dollars through to a third release at 349, with a Community Special at 249 for the first 50 buyers. A car pass is 79 dollars and required for every vehicle, and early Thursday arrival sold out. A Tribe Package bundles three tickets with a free car pass, from 747 dollars. Volunteer tickets are also offered. Te Arai is around 90 minutes north of Auckland. It is the New Zealand music festival that starts the summer.
