About Hidden Valley Festival
Hidden Valley returns to Matakana Country Park north of Auckland on Sunday 27 December 2026, running from 3pm to 11pm for its eleventh year. The park sits in the Matakana wine region an hour north of the city, which gives the festival a rural setting within reach of Auckland’s population.
The timing is deliberate. The week between Christmas and New Year is the heart of the New Zealand summer holiday, when Auckland empties northwards towards Matakana and the Coromandel, so the festival catches an audience that is already there. Entry is restricted to over 18s.
Hidden Valley publishes an official film for each edition, with the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions all documented. Tickets are sold through Flicket, the New Zealand platform. Matakana is around an hour from central Auckland by road up State Highway 1, with the village itself offering accommodation and a weekend market. Late December in Northland is warm and long.
