Best Techno Clubs in Amsterdam 2026: From the Ferry to the Warehouse Belt
Where techno actually lives in Amsterdam in 2026: Shelter, RADION, Gashouder, Lofi, RAUM, Warehouse Elementenstraat and more, with hours, door rules, age limits and October prices.

Amsterdam’s club map has moved. The rooms that mattered in 2021 were on Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein; the rooms that matter in 2026 are across the IJ, out past Sloterdijk and inside old gas holders, bus garages and dental schools. This is where techno actually lives in the city now, written from the 26 Amsterdam venues in our club guide, with hours, door rules and October 2026 prices taken from the clubs’ own sites.
Noord: take the ferry
Shelter
The first name most visitors learn, and for good reason. The free ferry from behind Centraal runs all night, the club sits in the basement of the A’DAM Toren, and the licence is 24 hours, so Friday and Saturday nights start at 23:00 and run to at least 06:00 with last entry at 04:00. House and techno are the core, with trance, italo and afro house nights slotted in monthly. Phones stay off the dancefloor, flash is banned, and suits and football shirts can be turned away. Tickets this October sit between EUR 22.50 and 25.
The Loft
Sixteen floors above Shelter, the penthouse of the same tower opens a few times a year for sunrise, sunset and night sessions, almost all of them during ADE. Seven-metre windows, a view over the whole city and room for about 450 people. Not a weekly club, so check the dates before you cross the river for it.
Garage Noord
Ten minutes further into Noord, a former car repair shop on Gedempt Hamerkanaal runs from 23:30 to 07:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, with a restaurant from Wednesday and a second space, Bar40, handed to guest collectives. The programme is deliberately wide, from techno and footwork to dub and punk.
Skatecafe
Next door to Garage Noord, an indoor ramp and a daytime cafe turn into 1,200-capacity club nights that run until 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Club nights are 21 and over, bags are searched and the door still takes cash.
Westergas and the western docks
Gashouder
The building Awakenings built its reputation in: an 1885 gas holder in Cultuurpark Westergas, about 2.5 km from Centraal, with room for more than 3,500 people under the steel roof. After a pre-opening season from June 2026 it is back as a full venue. The ADE night with I Hate Models and Nico Moreno sold out at EUR 54.45 to 69.45, KETTAMA follows on 27 November from 23:00 to 06:00, and the house rules are strict: personalised tickets, bags no bigger than A4, card only.
WestWeelde
Across the square, the new name for the rooms Amsterdam knew for 20 years as WesterUnie and WesterLiefde. De Unie holds about 850, De Liefde about 400, and a d&b audiotechnik system went in with the 2025 rebrand. Weekend parties with national and international promoters have run here since 2007.
Radio Radio
A few doors along, a club with its own station, RRFM, and a resident crew including Tom Trago, Dam Swindle and Cinnaman. Thursdays from 22:00, weekends from 23:00 to about 05:00, 21 and over, leaning house but booking the full spectrum in ADE week.
Thuishaven
Five minutes from Isolatorweg metro, an outdoor site with tents and bars for day shows from 13:00 and an indoor shed, De Loods, for night shows from 23:00. Jeff Mills and Bart Skils specials sit next to trance and hard house brands, and ADE day tickets this year were EUR 34.99 to 39. Bring the physical ID, photos are not accepted.
THE OTHER SIDE
A former bicycle workshop in the Houthavens with 1,100 capacity and an L-Acoustics L-ISA immersive system, a 14.1.5 setup the club says was the first of its kind in a nightclub. Its own nights lean house and disco, and visiting promoters bring the techno.
Sloterdijk and Nieuw-West: the warehouse belt
The office district around Sloterdijk station has quietly become the densest club zone in the city.
Lofi
A former GVB bus garage on Basisweg with a warehouse Club room, a second Colorfloor and a courtyard, plus a food court that works at day parties as well as the long nights that end between 05:00 and 08:00. Autumn bookings include Loco Dice and Dax J all night long and a Sala night with Len Faki. Doors usually close two hours before the end, so do not arrive at 06:00 expecting to get in.
Club RAUM
Two streets away on Humberweg, grown out of the SPIELRAUM parties and run as a queer-led home for techno, house and electro. Surgeon, Leon Vynehall, Mama Snake and a Call Super all-nighter are on the autumn list, with SPIELRAUM marathons through ADE. Entry is 21 and over, cameras get a sticker at the door, and suits are not welcome.
BRET
The red cube on Orlyplein is a bar and restaurant on weekdays and a club at weekends, with local DJs next to guest artists. Club nights are 21 and over, the cloakroom is mandatory and phones stay off the floor.
RADION
Further out in Slotervaart, in the old ACTA dental clinic since 2014, a brutalist block with former classrooms stripped to raw concrete and a 24-hour licence. Sound is the point: a rebuilt VOID Stasys system in the main room and vintage horn stacks over L-Acoustics subs upstairs in the Bovenkamer. Fridays and Saturdays run from 23:00 to 07:00 or later, physical ID only, and the Rødhåd all-nighter on 20 November is EUR 22.50 to 32.50 in advance.
Warehouse Elementenstraat
The historic one. The former peanut factory hosted 61 Multigroove raves in 1992 and 1993 that helped shape Dutch gabber, sat dark for two decades, then was bought by Duncan Stutterheim and rebuilt as a modular concrete venue with 3,000 capacity. Since 2014 it has been the room for promoter weekends like Reaktor’s Katharsis and Unpolished; the Elektra x Mixmag ADE night this week was EUR 25.
TILLATEC
A 1967 technical school with a 24-hour licence, a cafe, gardens and former classrooms used as event rooms, from 24-hour raves to community dinners. A safer space for queer crowds: cameras are covered at the door and sturdy closed shoes are required. Horse Meat Disco and an ADE run with IsBurning, Mala Junta and tINI are on this autumn’s list.
Het Sieraad
A listed 1920s craft school in the Amsterdam School style, with a glass roof over the courtyard and a second room, the Plaatwerkerij. Weekly house and techno line-ups range from afternoon day parties to all-nighters. Mostly 21 and over, neat look required, no joggers or football shirts.
Centre and Oost: what is left for techno
Most of the big-name rooms on Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein, Escape, Club NYX, Jimmy Woo and Chicago Social Club, are house, R&B and party-format clubs, which is why they are not on this list. Three rooms still earn a place.
Club John Doe
At Rembrandtplein 31, the one central club that has handed its whole week to techno since the pandemic: Hard Monday, Raveland with gabber and hardcore on Wednesdays, Techno Sessions on Thursdays, No Sunday Without Techno. Weeknights run to 04:00, weekends to 08:00 with the door closing at 05:00. No sportswear.
Doka
The basement of the Volkshotel on Wibautstraat, a small room that calls itself a sound bar and runs Doka Studio nights from 23:59 to 06:00 at EUR 14 in advance or 16 on the door. Capacity is limited and the hotel warns that entry is never guaranteed, even with a ticket.
Panama
On the water in the Eastern Docklands, a 1,050-capacity theatre room in a former power station, with a Pioneer XY-3B system and a Studio room for 150. Every Friday and Saturday through the year, swinging between techno, trance and hardstyle weekends.
Which Amsterdam clubs run past sunrise?
The clubs with 24-hour licences are Shelter, RADION and TILLATEC. Lofi regularly runs to 08:00, Garage Noord to 07:00, Club John Doe to 08:00 at weekends, and Doka to 06:00. Gashouder’s KETTAMA night in November finishes at 06:00. The metro stops in the small hours, so plan on the night bus, a bike or, for Shelter and Noord, the ferry, which never stops.
How old do you need to be?
Eighteen gets you into Shelter, RADION, Lofi, TILLATEC, Club John Doe, Thuishaven and most Gashouder nights. Club RAUM, Radio Radio, BRET, Skatecafe and Het Sieraad are 21 and over as standard. Several clubs, RADION, Thuishaven and Club John Doe among them, refuse photos or digital copies of ID, so carry the physical card.
What does a night cost in October 2026?
Weekly club nights sit between EUR 14 and 25: Doka at 14 to 16, Skatecafe around 14.50, Shelter at 22.50 to 25, RADION at 22.50 to 32.50 for a headline all-nighter. ADE week roughly doubles that, with Thuishaven day shows at 35 to 39 and Gashouder headliners at 54 to 69. Most venues take cards, Gashouder and Doka take nothing else, and Skatecafe still takes cash at the door.
The TA view
Five years ago this guide listed four clubs and two of them were on tourist squares. Today the strongest techno in Amsterdam is in buildings the city had given up on: a gas holder, a bus garage, a dental school, a peanut factory. If you have one night, take the ferry to Shelter. If you have a weekend, go west: RADION on Friday, Lofi or RAUM on Saturday, and Gashouder whenever Awakenings or KETTAMA are in the building. For the full set of 26 venues with maps, door rules and upcoming nights, use the Amsterdam filter in our club guide, and for the city’s festival calendar from ADE to Loveland, see techno festivals.
