About Berghain
Berghain occupies a former power plant on Am Wriezener Bahnhof in Friedrichshain, a short walk from Berlin Ostbahnhof. Its name joins Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, the districts either side of the building. The club opened in 2004, growing out of the earlier Ostgut. The main Berghain floor, known for techno, runs on a Funktion-One system beneath very high concrete ceilings, while Panorama Bar upstairs leans towards house and the Säule sits on the ground floor. Halle and Kantine am Berghain host separate programmes. Weekend Klubnacht starts at 23:59 on Saturday and often lasts into Monday, with long DJ sets as standard. The club also runs the Ostgut Ton label, and its strict door and no-photo rule are part of its reputation.

Panorama Bar is the upstairs floor of the building, focused mainly on house music, while the main Berghain floor below plays techno. It opened in October 2004, two months before the main room. Säule, Halle and Kantine am Berghain host further events.
Why is Berghain called Berghain?

Is Rosalía's song "Berghain" about the club?
Not directly. Rosalía released "Berghain" with Björk and Yves Tumor on 27 October 2025 as the lead single from her album Lux. She said the title comes from the literal German meaning, roughly "mountain grove", rather than from the Berlin club.
What is Berghain: Art in the Club?
