About Doka

Doka is the basement sound bar of the Volkshotel at Wibautstraat 150 in Amsterdam, a building that opened in 1965 as the head office of the newspaper de Volkskrant and became a hotel in June 2014. The hotel describes Doka as a place where subcultures meet, with DJs, bands and other creatives sending out their sound from the sound bar. Club nights run under the Doka Studio name, usually from 23:59 to 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and the October 2026 programme includes Petre Inspirescu with Unsilenced, Hannecart with Sin Señal, Orpheu The Wizard and Doppelgang. Earlier in the week there are live and culture evenings such as Doka Live and Doka Culture. Capacity is limited, entry is not guaranteed, and the bar takes card payments only.
