Which club in Sofia is best for techno?

For international bookings, Yalta Club is still the address. The venue at Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard 20 traces its history to 1959 and, by its own account, became the first place in Bulgaria dedicated to electronic music after 1989. The main room has a panoramic glass facade over the boulevard, and since 2014 there has also been Room 2, a concrete underground room on level -1. Yalta made the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs poll in 2016 (41), 2021 (28) and 2023 (57).
The 2026 calendar shows both sides of the club. Room 2 hosts the Duna series, which brought Isabel Soto from Ostgut Ton on 19 September and Philippa Pacho to the garden and Room 2 on 18 July. In summer the action moves outside to Yalta’s Garden, with nights such as Forma presents Sepehr (26 June), Infinite Grooves with ZDEPTH (3 July) and a Garden Exclusive with Volkoder (4 July). Club nights start from 23:00.

Where can you hear techno in Sofia on a weeknight?

Tell Me at Ivan Vazov Street 12 is the busiest dancefloor in the city by a distance: it has 74 nights listed on Resident Advisor for July to December 2026, more than any other venue in Sofia. The room holds about 200 people, weeknight parties usually run from 22:00 to 04:00 and weekend nights from 23:00 to 05:00.
The programme is local and varied rather than big-name. In the first half of October 2026 alone it hosted DTK presents babyschön, Loud’n’Queer, an Only Vinyl night with Frykk and Shosho on 16 October, and TABA is 7, the birthday of the Taba record store, with Algorithm on 17 October. Halloween falls to We Like Kitsch with Julieta Intergalactica on 31 October.

Where is the hard techno in Sofia?
Sofia’s harder sound lives in three small, concrete rooms rather than in one big club.
Nutone
Nutone is a compact concrete space inside the Vasil Levski National Stadium building, at the start of Borisova Garden. It opened in 2019 and is run by ROBOLOCO, the duo of Miss Lidiya and DJ Smurf, who also run the Metropolis promotion. The venue describes a hidden main room for dark techno, an outdoor smoking area and a custom sound system by Nova Audio UK. Its long-running series is Eine Kleine Techno Nacht, which reaches edition 093 on 24 October 2026.
Kupe
Kupe sits in the underpass at Slavyanska Street 8, with a yard, and lists a capacity of 420. It is the most active hard techno room in the city, with 27 nights listed on Resident Advisor for July to December 2026. October brings Darkbeat x Kupe with Sinner, JAKKAR and ARLECIN (17 October), Sweet Boys Club presents Stratera with Egor Sintsoff and NERONE (23 October) and the Monster Hard Halloween edition (31 October).
Club Pave
Club Pave is hidden in the basement of the Sofia City Library at William Gladstone Street 68 and calls itself a home for alternative music and culture. It holds 350. Decode presents _asstnt runs from 22:00 to 07:00 on 16 October, and a hardbass Halloween night follows on 30 October; advance tickets for both were EUR 15 on Resident Advisor.
What happened to EXE Club Sofia?

EXE Club at Shipka Street 6 was Sofia’s biggest club for touring techno, with nights such as Len Faki (12 April 2025), Ilario Alicante (26 April 2025) and Somewhen (17 May 2025). The venue now trades as CLWD, which its own YouTube channel introduces as a unified culture space, ex EXE Club. Resident Advisor lists a capacity of 1,200.
CLWD describes itself as not just a club anymore: the main hall has a pixel-controlled LED ceiling, a modular stage, a 9 x 3 metre screen and seven VIP booths, and it hosts concerts, talks, workshops and corporate events as well as club nights from 22:00 to 06:00. The mid-October 2026 calendar was a tribute and themed-party programme rather than techno, so check the line-up before you go. The EXE brand itself carries on outside the building, with the EXE Beach Festival on the Black Sea coast in summer.
Which smaller Sofia venues are worth checking?
Mesmeric
Mesmeric at Fridtjof Nansen Street 25 holds 300 and runs under the line “changing the way you listen”. Its Insurge Locals series, with Emanuil Hristov, SLLAV and Amokk, has its fifth edition on 30 October 2026.
Mixtape 5

Mixtape 5 sits in the Galeriya underpass where Bulgaria Boulevard meets Cherni Vrah Boulevard and holds 400. In 2026 its club nights have been mostly drum and bass, led by the Metafiziq label (Zero Hour in January, Liminal in March, Drum and Bass Totality in May), so it is a better pick for bass music and live shows than for a straight techno night.

Micro

Micro at Karnigradska Street 19 is a record shop, culture shop and bar with a multifunctional event space for up to 350 people, selling new and second-hand vinyl. Its last club night listed on Resident Advisor was UNTIED4 in February 2025, so treat it as a daytime stop for records rather than a weekend club.
