About Heaven

Heaven is a gay club in the arches beneath Charing Cross station, with its entrance under the arches on Villiers Street. Jeremy Norman opened it in December 1979 in a former roller disco called Global Village, and it soon became the centre of London's gay nightlife. In the late 1980s it hosted Paul Oakenfold's Spectrum and Kevin Millins' Rage, and the Land of Oz chillout sessions held there are credited with the birth of ambient house. G-A-Y moved in from the Astoria in October 2008, and G-A-Y founder Jeremy Joseph took sole ownership of Heaven in 2013.

Heaven now opens seven nights a week, with nights such as Popcorn on Mondays and G-A-Y on Saturdays, when several rooms play pop, RnB and dance music around a live drag performance. Since January 2009 it has also staged live gigs in the main room, which runs an L-Acoustics system. The Stage Bar, Star Bar and Departure Lounge are further rooms with their own sound. Club nights are strictly 18+.
