About Village Underground

Village Underground is an independent venue in a renovated Victorian warehouse at 54 Holywell Lane in Shoreditch, East London, two minutes from Shoreditch High Street station. The project began in 2006, when four old Jubilee line tube carriages and two shipping containers were lifted onto a railway viaduct on Great Eastern Street as affordable studios for creative people. The team then turned the neighbouring warehouse, a former railway coal store, into a venue, which opened in April 2007. The brick hall hosts concerts in the evening and club nights run by London promoters and collectives, with techno, house and wider electronic music, such as Batu all night long on 30 October 2026. Above the main room, the rooftop opened to the public as an open-air bar with access to the tube carriages. The venue is cashless.
