Studio 338 Stabbing: Man Charged After Halloween Event in Greenwich

A 21-year-old was stabbed at Studio 338 in Greenwich during a Halloween event. A 24-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm. Here is what police have confirmed so far.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a 21-year-old was stabbed at London nightclub Studio 338 during a Halloween event on Friday 30 October. Police say the victim’s condition is non-life changing, and the accused was due before Bromley Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 2 November.

What happened at Studio 338?

Officers were called to the venue, on Boord Street on the Greenwich Peninsula, on Friday night. The Metropolitan Police say the 21-year-old was stabbed twice in the thigh. The Standard understands it took place on the dancefloor.

He was taken to hospital. Mixmag reports that paramedics attended and that people inside were evacuated, with police cordoning off the area. Clips shared online show crowds and emergency vehicles outside. Police have not given a figure for how many people were moved out, and not every report mentions an evacuation.

A man from Croydon was arrested within hours and charged the next day. Police have named him, but we are not repeating the name here: he has not been convicted of anything, and it adds nothing a clubgoer needs to know.

Has Studio 338 responded?

The Standard and Mixmag both say they contacted the venue for comment, and neither had reported a reply. Mixmag also noted that Studio 338 kept posting footage from the weekend’s events on Instagram, which suggests the rest of the programme went ahead. We have seen no announcement of a closure or a change to upcoming events.

The TA view

This is a live criminal case, so we are sticking to what police and court listings confirm. Some coverage has already moved on to what this could mean for the club’s licence, but we found nothing from the police or the council to support that, and nobody should treat it as fact. We will update this piece when the court outcome or a statement from Studio 338 is confirmed.
