About Dangerous Goods XXL Festival
Dangerous Goods XXL comes to the Melbourne Showgrounds on Saturday 23 January 2027, running from 12pm until late. It is the Melbourne stop on the promoter’s January run of XXL festivals, which also visits Perth on 15 January, Sydney on 16 January, Brisbane on 22 January and Adelaide on 24 January. The organisers give the Melbourne capacity as 20,000 to 25,000, spread across several stages, including 360-degree indoor boiler-style rooms, with lasers, LED walls and pyrotechnics.
Boris Brejcha headlines with what Dangerous Goods bills as an extended retirement set. The German producer has said he will stop touring in 2028, so this January run is one of the last chances to see him in Australia; we track his remaining confirmed shows here. The first phase of the line-up adds Claptone, Darude, Holy Priest, Neelix and Sub Zero Project, alongside Australian names such as Havana Brown, Nik Kastel, Jake Casey and Miss Jade. The stages split the day between techno, tech house, melodic, hard groove, hardstyle, psytrance and trance, and more acts are still to be announced.
Dangerous Goods Entertainment is a Melbourne promoter built on techno, hard techno and psytrance, and XXL is its large-format series; the previous Melbourne edition took place on 27 June 2026. The event is strictly 18+ with photo ID, general admission starts at AUD 219.99 and the VIP On Stage ticket at AUD 379.99 includes a platform behind the DJs. Tickets are sold through Megatix, and the promoter points resale to Tixel. The showgrounds sit in Ascot Vale, about six kilometres north west of the city centre, with their own Showgrounds rail stop for major events and a tram stop on Union Road. For a summer music festival in Melbourne that mixes techno with the harder end of dance music, this is the date to plan the summer around.
