About Chinese Laundry

Chinese Laundry is a basement club under the Slip Inn on Slip Street in Sydney's CBD, set in a 100-year-old sandstone building. It opened in 1996 and is part of the Merivale hospitality group. Over the years it booked international names such as Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, James Holden and Sasha, and gave early stages to Australian artists including Flume and Dom Dolla.

After a four-year break the club reopened on 16 July 2024 under the curation of Nergal Youkhana of Melbourne's Sub Club, with Martin Audio sound systems in both rooms, the Laundry and the Cave, and a stripped-back lighting setup. It runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm to 4am, mostly under the Chinese Laundry Invites series of local crew takeovers, label showcases and international guests. Resident DJ Bryony Calleia is now programming manager.

Strictly 18+: minors are not allowed in the venue, and there is no guest list. The dress code is casual and relaxed, the venue is cashless, and tickets are sold on Moshtix and Resident Advisor with a limited number of walk-ins.
