About Revolver Upstairs

Revolver Upstairs, known locally as Revs, is a bar, Thai restaurant and nightclub on the first floor of 229 Chapel Street in Prahran, in Melbourne's inner south east. It opened in 1997, set up by venue manager Camillo Ippoliti and Thai pop singer Tan Punturaumporn in a building whose ground floor was once a parachute factory. The space is filled with vintage furniture rather than a conventional dancefloor, and several original Banksy stencils are preserved on its walls.

Revs is best known for its long weekend hours. The Late Show began in 1999, when the club gained a 7am licence, and has run every Saturday since, led by resident Phil Ransom from the start. The front room, called the Stage, plays garage, bassline and techno until 7am, while the back room, the Cage, blends house with Italo and Afro sounds and keeps going through Sunday into Monday morning. Before club nights the space serves as Colonel Tan's Thai Kitchen.

Door policy

From the club's own rules

Valid ID is required and only the ID types shown on the door signage are accepted under Victorian law. The club advises against open-toe shoes, singlets and tracksuits, and when it reaches capacity only members are let in; membership is by referral and vetting.

Why is Revolver Upstairs members only some nights?

How much does it cost to get into Revolver Upstairs?

The door charge changes from night to night, and many events are free or door sale only. Priority entry tickets for The Late Show on Saturday 3 October 2026, valid before 2am, were AUD 30 on Humanitix, and a few tickets are usually kept for the door.

What is The Late Show at Revolver Upstairs?

How do you get to Revolver Upstairs?

Revolver is on the first floor at 229 Chapel Street, Prahran. Prahran station on the Sandringham line is about 350 metres away. Because of the building's age and heritage status, the venue is not wheelchair accessible, though all main areas are on one level once upstairs.

What ID do I need to get into Revolver Upstairs?

Revolver can only accept valid ID under Victorian law, and the accepted types of ID are listed on signage at the door. Check that your ID is current and on that list before you queue.
