About Connections Nightclub

Connections, known locally as Connies, is an LGBTQIA+ nightclub at 81 James Street in Northbridge, Perth's nightlife district. Denis Marshall and Walter Furlong opened it on 13 December 1975, and it is believed to be the longest-running gay club in the southern hemisphere. Tim Brown took over in 1991 and still runs it. The club has a main dancefloor, an upstairs lounge and a rooftop terrace, and it hosts DJ nights, cabaret and drag shows. Frankie Knuckles and Tama Sumo are among the DJs who have played there. The venue is on the City of Perth heritage register for its importance to the state's LGBTQIA+ community, and it marked its 50th birthday with a weekend party in December 2025.
