Berghain Falls to 21 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs 2026
Berghain slid five places to 21 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs 2026 as a new Ibiza hyperclub took number one. What the ranking measures, and what it misses about Berlin.

Berghain has spent two decades as the club everyone talks about and almost nobody photographs. In the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs 2026, published this July, Berlin’s most mythologised room slipped five places to number 21, its lowest placing in years. The number one spot went to [UNVRS], a brand new Ibiza hyperclub with a single season behind it.
For a sense of what the room actually sounds like, here is Ostgut Ton’s own Berghain Playlist, compiled by resident Marcel Dettmann.
The drop reads dramatic until you look at the company Berghain now keeps. Cologne’s Bootshaus placed 11th and London’s fabric 13th, while the upper reaches of the 2026 list are dominated by Ibiza’s high capacity venues, from Ushuaïa to the chart topping [UNVRS]. Berghain was the only Berlin club to make the cut at all.
A poll like this rewards reach: online voting, capacity, marketing budgets and the kind of festival sized production that fills a five thousand person room. Berghain optimises for almost none of that. There is no photography inside, no guestlist theatre for the cameras, and a door policy built to protect the floor rather than fill it. The venue keeps six spaces running, from the main hall to Panorama Bar and the summer Garten, largely on word of mouth.
A ranking measures who gathered the most votes. It was never built to measure the thing Berghain actually sells: a night with no screens, no proof and no encore.
That is also why the club endures. Our single most read piece remains a collection of the rare photos taken inside Berghain, precisely because such images are so hard to come by. Position 21 changes nothing about the queue on Rüdersdorfer Straße, and Ostgut Ton, the in house label, only relaunched last year after a four year pause. The list moved. Berghain, characteristically, did not.
