Burning Man, famous for festival that brings together iconic works of art, is planning to put their classics up for sale to raise funds for further events.
The investors and organizers of the event decided to auction the epic artworks created at the festival in order to ensure permanence and to dilute the recent economic negativities. Fans are worried about the festival, which has to be postponed and canceled in the current period. Authorities, on the other hand, found such a solution to the search for cash to remove this concern.
The iconic artworks that will be auctioned are mostly imaginative works. It is possible to see paintings, sculptures and huge vehicles among them. Some of the works are listed below for you as a reminder, take a look.
And now here is the most popular artwork of the auction, this Cadillac named ‘Rocket Car‘ designed by David Best, which is about 12 meters high and is expected to sell at least for $50,000.
However, there is still a question and concern on everyone’s mind. The origin of the ‘Burning Man’ festival and the most fundamental factor in the spirit of the event, even in its name, will be violated. As explained in the article we published recently, the ‘Burning Man’ festival is an environment where the individual reveals his/her free and creative spirit, and all the works produced here are incinerated on the desert that weekend. Because there is no material or materialistic purpose at all. When we consider the sale and auction to be held, it is a matter of great curiosity how this will turnaround as an attitude of the fans to the festival’s idea.
For those who are interested in or will follow the auction, the event labelled as “Boundless Space: The Possibilities of Burning Man” will take place at Sotheby’s in New York on September 30.
