About smalltown NYD (Melbourne (Cremorne), Australia)
Smalltown takes over the Cremorne carpark at 7 Palmer Parade in Melbourne on Friday 1 January 2027, running from 3pm to midnight. Novel promote it, and the series has built its reputation on using car parks, bridges and underpasses rather than conventional venues: the Graham Street underpass show from January 2026 is the clearest example.
Ame, Kolsch and Mano Le Tough lead the bill, with Gumm and Samantha Loveridge also on it. That is three of the most established names in melodic house and techno in one afternoon, which for a New Year’s Day event in Australia is unusually serious programming.
DJ Bouncy, Jack Colletta, Kyla, Tilly Hardy and Rob Anthony set the pace from the afternoon into the night. Tickets are sold through Resident Advisor. Cremorne sits immediately south east of the Melbourne CBD, a short walk from Richmond station and reachable by tram, which matters on New Year’s Day when the city is slow to wake up. For an Australian New Year’s Day music festival, this bill is the strongest.
