About Mach 1
Mach 1 is one of the oldest clubs in the Nuremberg area, a basement club in the old town opposite the Fleischbrücke. It opened in 1987 as the successor to Charly M., founded by Helmut Schmelzer and Andreas Detterbeck, and in the 1990s it was known as a house venue, with walls of lit glass blocks added early in the decade; Boy George made his first appearance in Germany there in 1996. Today, run by mach1 Club GmbH under the name Macheins, it hosts weekend party nights such as Mach1 Saturdays, Fat Friday and ICON NIGHTS, which mixes tech house, 2010s hits and commercial techno. The club's hall of fame lists past guests including Sven Väth, Avicii, Hardwell and Afrojack. In 2024 it hosted Pink Bananas, the opening party of Nuremberg's Pride weeks, for the first time.
