About Gewölbe

Gewölbe is a small basement club at Hans-Böckler-Platz 2 in Cologne, set in the arches beside the Köln West railway station. The space began in the early 2000s as an art room next to Bar Westpol, took the name Gewölbe around 2005 and reopened in May 2011 after a full renovation, when a core team turned it into a curated venue for electronic music. It books around 300 artists a year, mixing international techno and house DJs with Cologne talent through series such as Im Fokus, rau.ton and Feines Tier. The City of Cologne has funded its programme through cultural grants since 2015, and the club has twice won the federal APPLAUS prize for independent music venues. Phone cameras are taped over at the door, and the bars take cash only.
