About BASIS

BASIS is a techno club in a basement on the Oudegracht wharf in the centre of Utrecht, at Oudegracht aan de Werf 97, right beside the old canal. It opened in early 2015 and marked its tenth birthday with two ten-hour raves in January and February 2025. The dark concrete room is built around a 360-degree DJ booth that puts artists and dancers on the same level, and a three-way Void Acoustics system with a six-piece Nexus XL and Nexus Q substack, upgraded in 2026 with Void Bias Q5 amplifiers. The same company also hires the space out as De Werfkelder, for 500 or more standing guests.

Club nights run on Friday and Saturday from 23:00 to 06:00, with doors closing at 04:00. The programme leans towards techno and harder sounds, with all night long sets from Rebekah, Cynthia Spiering and BIIA in autumn 2026, alongside house specials, vinyl nights and talent nights for local DJs. Each summer the club also runs the BASIS Outdoor festival at Beton-T. BASIS is 18+, card only and keeps phone flashes covered.
