For five days every October, Amsterdam stops being a city and becomes an operating system for electronic music. Amsterdam Dance Event is the largest club festival and conference on the planet: thousands of artists, hundreds of venues, and every label boss, booker and bedroom producer in the industry crammed into one postcode. Because ADE has no single stage or genre, its official selection behaves like the city itself during festival week: techno in one room, house next door, something stranger in the basement. The result is a cross-section of where the whole scene stands, curated by the organisation that watches it more closely than anyone.
