UK techno in 2026: what has opened and what has closed
British clubbing has had a hard few years, and the map has shifted since this page first went up. Our report on 65 UK nightclubs closing in 2024 set out the pressure on rents, licences and late-night trade, and several respected rooms have gone since then:
- Motion, Bristol: the skatepark warehouse ran its closing series in July 2025 and is now listed as closed on Resident Advisor.
- Corsica Studios, London: the Elephant and Castle club held its farewell run in March 2026, ending with “Goodbye x” on 28 March, and has had no events listed since.
- Hope Works, Sheffield: closing weekend in February 2025.
- Wire, Leeds: “The Last Dance” was on 1 June 2024.
- The White Hotel, Salford: still open, but has confirmed it will close for good in January 2027, so this autumn is its final season.
There is good news too. Sankeys, the Manchester name that topped DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs poll in 2010, came back in a new club on Sidney Street with an opening party on 26 September 2026. XOYO in Shoreditch reopened on 31 January 2026 after a refurbishment with a new Void sound system. And the large warehouse format that Printworks made famous lives on at Drumsheds in north London.
Best techno clubs in London
London has the widest choice in the country. With one weekend, a Saturday at fabric and a Sunday at FOLD show you both ends of the city’s techno scene.
fabric, Farringdon
fabric opened on 29 October 1999 in the former Metropolitan Cold Stores at 77a Charterhouse Street, opposite Smithfield Market. It has three rooms with separate sound systems, and Room One is known for its bodysonic floor, where bass transducers under the dancefloor let you feel the low end through your feet. Fridays are mostly FABRICLIVE, with drum and bass and other bass music, while Saturdays belong to house, techno and electro, anchored by founding residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis. Sunday is Come As You Are.
The club turns 27 this month. The birthday weekend starts with FABRICLIVE on 16 October 2026, and the Saturday session on 17 October runs from 23:00 into Monday morning with Craig Richards, Ricardo Villalobos, Freddy K, Zip, DJ Masda and Jane Fitz, according to the RA listing. fabric was placed 13th in DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs for 2026. Phones are stickered at the door, ID is scanned and there is no re-entry.

FOLD, Canning Town
FOLD opened on 18 August 2018 in a former print works on Stephenson Street, east London. Its founders, Seb Glover and the DJ Lasha Jorjoliani (Voicedrone), chose an industrial estate away from housing so the club could hold a 24-hour licence, and it still uses it. The design is dark and stripped back: the booth sits at floor level, the Main Room runs Funktion-One, and a second room, the Steam Room, handles the overflow. Bookings lean towards challenging techno and newer names, with residents including Voicedrone, James Newmarch and Anabel Arroyo.
The Sunday daytime party UNFOLD often keeps its line-up secret and moves the decks to the middle of the floor. On 17 October 2026 the Goodness party brings John Talabot and Oceanic b2b rRoxymore, while Midland’s all day long session on the same date is already sold out. FOLD runs a no-photo policy.

Drumsheds, Meridian Water
Drumsheds is the former IKEA Tottenham store beside the North Circular. Broadwick Live, the group behind Printworks, turned it into a 15,000 capacity venue that opened its first season on 7 October 2023. It runs in seasons rather than every weekend: the AW26 run goes from 3 October to 5 December 2026, with Friday night shows and Saturday day parties. Terminal V London brings I Hate Models and Holy Priest on 23 October, and elrow’s Halloween party follows on 31 October. Meridian Water station is a five minute walk, with extra trains on event days.

Phonox, Brixton
Two minutes from Brixton Underground, Phonox opened in September 2015 with a simple idea: one dancefloor, one Funktion-One system and DJs playing all night or extended sets. Fridays run as “4 Fridays at Phonox”, where one artist programmes a month of nights; Anish Kumar has October, and Denis Sulta holds a residency running to 26 December 2026. The music moves between house, techno, disco and drum and bass, and the club asks people not to film on the floor. phonox.co.uk

Its club brand, KOKO Electronic, runs Friday and Saturday nights from 22:00 to 05:00, is strictly 19+ and leans to house and tech house, with Hernan Cattaneo on 16 October. Our KOKO guide covers the door rules.

Ministry of Sound, open since 1991 in a former bus garage in Elephant and Castle, is marking its 35th year; its main room, The Box, has a KV2 Audio system, with a broad, mostly house programme (ministryofsound.com). In Shoreditch, Village Underground hosts promoter-led techno and house nights in a Victorian warehouse, with Batu playing all night long on 30 October (villageunderground.co.uk).
Best techno clubs in Manchester
The Warehouse Project dominates autumn, but the year-round rooms keep Manchester healthy. This year the city gained one club and is about to lose another.
The Warehouse Project, Depot Mayfield
The Warehouse Project started in 2006 in the disused Boddingtons Brewery and, after spells under Piccadilly station and at Victoria Warehouse, has been based since 2019 at Depot Mayfield, a former railway depot next to Piccadilly. 2026 is its 20th season. It runs from September to New Year’s Day across the main Depot room, Concourse and Archive, and some Concourse-only nights put stickers over phone cameras. DJ Mag ranked it 15th in its Top 100 Clubs for 2026.
The standout techno date this autumn is Overmono’s Pure Devotion on 30 October 2026, from 20:00 to 04:00, with James Blake b2b Joy Orbison, Moodymann, Blawan, Helena Hauff, DJ Bone and Aurora Halal on the bill. Entry is strictly 18+ with photo ID, bags over A4 are refused and there is no re-entry.

A former MOT garage on an industrial estate near HMP Manchester, The White Hotel holds about 250 people and built its name on experimental electronics, techno and new bands. Techno raves in the UK: the big seasonal nights
A lot of UK techno now happens in seasons rather than weekly residencies. Autumn is the peak:
- Drumsheds AW26 (London, 3 October to 5 December 2026): the place for large-scale techno brands such as Terminal V, Drumcode and Resistance.
- The Warehouse Project (Manchester, September to New Year’s Day): the 20th season, with themed nights across three rooms.
- Teletech: the hard techno promoter tours the country, with 2026 dates at The Warehouse in Leeds and The Prospect Building in Bristol, and regular nights at Hidden.
- Birmingham Techno at Tunnel Club: a long-running series with UK veterans such as Regis and Ben Sims.
- Club birthdays: fabric’s 27th (16 and 17 October 2026) is the kind of weekend that sells out early.
Summer is festival season instead; if you are planning a trip beyond the UK, our techno clubs directory covers clubs around the world.
How to find techno clubs near you in the UK
A few habits help you find the real techno rooms:
- Use Resident Advisor. Set your city on ra.co and filter by genre. Every club in this guide lists its events there, and a club with no upcoming listings for months is often closed.
- Follow the promoter, not just the venue. In Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham much of the techno is run by touring or local promoters who move between rooms.
- Bring physical photo ID. Most UK clubs scan a passport, driving licence or PASS card, and KOKO Electronic is 19+.
- Expect phone stickers. fabric, FOLD, Sankeys and some Warehouse Project nights cover phone cameras or ban filming.
- Travel light. Bags larger than A4 are refused at Drumsheds and The Warehouse Project, and most big rooms have no re-entry.

If a club on this list matters to you, buy the advance ticket and go.
