LAWTON, the stage name of London-born, Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Ben Lawton, makes his debut with the release of ‘Bad Potato’ on Armada Music, a track that has been building momentum on dancefloors worldwide over the past year.

‘Bad Potato’ reflects the direction behind the LAWTON project: high-energy, dancefloor-focussed, and rooted in the peak-time trance energy of the late ’90s. Before its official release, the track had already found its way into sets from some of the most prominent names in the scene. Highlights include KI/KI and Marlon Hoffstadt playing it during their b2b set at 5 Hours On The Beach, Funk Tribu and Armin van Buuren dropping it during their face-to-face set at A State of Trance, and VTSS playing it at Tomorrowland Brasil.

The track was officially introduced during the A State of Trance 2026 weekend at AHOY Rotterdam. That same weekend, LAWTON appeared at a pop-up event where fans packed out chip shop ‘Frites Unique’ before the project made its stage debut later that night at AHOY, marking the transition from an underground presence to a fully-fledged live act.

Driven by a firm low-end pulse, sharp rhythmic programming, and a weighty trance-influenced progression, ‘Bad Potato’ operates with clear intent. Its construction leans into functional, floor-ready territory while maintaining a distinct, almost playful, identity, a combination that explains why it gained traction through DJ sets long before its release. The energy is direct and unrelenting, built to sustain peak-time momentum across extended sets.

After a year circulating through DJ booths around the world, ‘Bad Potato’ now becomes the first official release from LAWTON. It is a considered debut, arriving with validation already built in: the dancefloor tested it first.

Released via Armada Music, ‘Bad Potato’ is out now and available to stream and download across all major platforms.
