Daft Punk Essentials Playlist on Spotify

Two robot helmets changed dance music forever, and Daft Punk Essentials is their own highlight reel. It is curated by the duo’s own Spotify account, Daft Punk, and covers 1993 to 2021.

The original tracklist reads like a history lesson: “One More Time”, “Contact”, “Television Rules the Nation” and “Give Life Back to Music” all appear. Guests show up too, including Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas, The Weeknd, Todd Edwards, Nile Rodgers and Paul Williams, whose voices are woven through the later records.

This is French house, disco and electro in one pass, equally at home as a house party opener, a road trip soundtrack or a nostalgic late-night singalong. With 49 tracks and 4 h 11 min, there is room to go from the floor-fillers through the slower, stranger corners without touching the skip button.

Helmets on. Dancefloor history, start to finish.
