Outside Lands (San Francisco, CA, USA) 2027

Outside Lands returns to Golden Gate Park from 6 to 8 August 2027, running three days across the western end of San Francisco’s largest park. The festival has been held there since 2008 and is built around more than music: wine from Napa and Sonoma under the Wine Lands banner, a beer programme, a food line up drawn from Bay Area restaurants, an art programme and Grass Lands, the on site cannabis marketplace that was the first of its kind at an American festival.

The bill is deliberately broad, mixing headline pop and rock with hip hop and a substantial electronic programme at the SOMA and Twin Peaks stages. Past editions have featured everyone from Fisher and The xx to Baby Keem, and the festival routinely sells out before the full line up is published. The 2027 bill had not been announced at the time of writing.

The park setting brings its own conditions. San Francisco in August is frequently cold and foggy near the ocean, and the organisers sell merchandise accordingly. There is no camping, so the festival runs on the city’s hotels and public transport, with Muni services running into the park from downtown. Tickets are sold through the official site in tiered releases from the autumn before. It is the Bay Area music festival that defines the local summer.
