Boris Brejcha Is Retiring in 2028: Every Show Left Before the Joker’s Last Chapter

Boris Brejcha will close 'the chapter of Boris Brejcha and the Joker' at the end of 2028. Here is what he said, how the Last Chapter tour works, and every confirmed show before then.

Yes, Boris Brejcha is retiring. In a video posted on 24 October 2026, the German producer said that 2027 will be his last festival season, that 2028 will be a farewell headline tour called Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker, and that “at the end of 2028, we’ll close the chapter of Boris Brejcha and the Joker.” No 2028 dates have been announced yet, but there are still plenty of chances to see him before then, and we have listed every confirmed one below.

What exactly did Boris Brejcha announce?

He posted the news to his more than two million Instagram followers as a carousel captioned simply “Last Chapter 2028”, on the same day he played Amsterdam during ADE week. The next day he wrote that it had been “a very emotional night. But I’m really happy with my decision.”

In the video he explains where the idea came from:

“My dad always used to say that you should stop when things are at their best. And that’s why I want to let you know that in 2028, I’ll be writing my final chapter.”

He also says he wants to “play as many shows as possible in 2028 as one huge thank you”, and that he is neither ill nor tired of making music. The decision, in his words, is entirely his own.

When is Boris Brejcha’s last tour?

The plan has two parts. 2027 is his final year on festival stages. Then 2028 is a headline-only farewell run, the Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker tour, which ends with his last show at the end of that year. Cities, venues and ticket dates for 2028 have not been released.

The tour has its own website, becomingthejoker.com. At the moment it only offers a newsletter sign-up, promising to tell fans first “when the book opens and unveils its secrets”. In the teaser he writes the tour title into an ornate book, so a book or written story may be part of the project too. That is our reading; it has not been confirmed.

What does a Boris Brejcha festival set look like now?

For a sense of what the final festival summer will feel like, here is his weekend one main stage set from Tomorrowland 2026, officially uploaded by Tomorrowland.

Is he quitting music completely, or just the Joker?

He has not spelled it out. His exact words are that he will “close the chapter of Boris Brejcha and the Joker”, which covers both his name and the mask he has worn since his first gig in Brazil. He has said nothing about producing under another alias or working behind the scenes. Until he does, the safest reading is that the touring career ends in 2028, and anything after that is unknown.

What happens to Fckng Serious?

The announcement did not mention Fckng Serious, the label he founded in 2015 and celebrated with a ten-year club bus tour in 2025. The label still depends heavily on him: on our Beatport chart tracker, its most charted artists over the last 12 months are Boris Brejcha himself, Poppy Baskcomb and MC Flipside, and its biggest track is his “Red In The Desert” with Poppy Baskcomb. Whether the label keeps going without its founder on the road is one of the bigger open questions of the next two years.

Why does this matter so much?

Few techno artists have built a sound and an image as recognisable as his. He calls his style “high-tech minimal”, and the music and the Joker mask have always come as one package. In the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs he has been in the list every year since 2019, peaking at No. 42 in 2021, and he came in at No. 57 in 2026. His 2019 Cercle set at the Grand Palais in Paris has passed 69 million views on YouTube.

The TA view

Brejcha has handled this unusually carefully: he has given two years’ notice, split them clearly into a festival year and a headline year, and explained his reasons in one line from his father. If he means it, the next 26 months are the last chance to hear high-tech minimal from the person who named it. If you have been putting off a Boris Brejcha show, the Ultra b2b with Cirez D and the 2027 festival dates above are the place to start. We will update this page as the Last Chapter dates come out. Meanwhile, follow him on his artist page to get every new date.
