About Beat-Herder Festival
The Beat-Herder Festival returns to its Lancashire farmland site from 16 to 18 July 2027, with gates opening at 10:00 on the Friday and tickets on general sale through Kaboodle since 30 July 2026. The site sits on the A59 between Clitheroe and Sawley in the Ribble Valley, and the organisers ask people not to arrive on the Thursday because the gates stay shut until Friday morning.
Beat-Herder started in 2006, when 1,200 people turned up to a field baked hard by the sun, a tiny main stage, a reggae tent run by Colin Bushrocker, a witch tent and a couple of food stalls. Two decades later the same crew runs roughly sixteen additional areas, fourteen bars and more than forty stalls. Stage names give the character away: Toil Trees, The Fortress, The Ring, Stumblefunk at the Factory, Smoky Tentacles, Bushrocker Hi-Fi, The Snug, The Parish Church, Sunrise, Bubba Gumma, The Launderette, Hotel California, Julie’s Barn and The Garage.
Much of what visitors see is built by hand, from painted signs and flags to restored cars and homemade hymn books, and the team still plans each edition on brown wrapping paper taped to a table. The 2027 line-up has not been released, with stage by stage announcements usually arriving through the spring. For drivers the nearest usable postcode is BB7 4LH, and the Stagecoach 280 service along the A59 from Preston passes the festival gates, which makes this music festival one of the easier northern weekends to reach without a car.
