About Conne Island

Conne Island is an alternative youth and culture centre in Connewitz, south Leipzig, with a large outdoor skatepark on its grounds. It sits at Koburger Straße 3 in a building put up in the second half of the 19th century as the Eiskeller, a day-trip restaurant, which later served as a GDR youth club. Since 1991 it has been run independently by a non-profit association under an agreement with the city. The programme mixes concerts from punk and hardcore to hip hop with club nights, and the electronic side includes the Electric Island series, which marked 20 years in 2025, Trance Island, Generations of Bass and nights for drum and bass, jungle, dub and grime. The first Wave-Gotik-Treffen took place here in 1992, and the venue won the APPLAUS award for best live music venue in 2023.
