Ilses Erika, officially Tanzcafé Ilses Erika, is a basement club in the Haus der Demokratie at Bernhard-Göring-Straße 152 in Leipzig's Südvorstadt, close to the Connewitzer Kreuz junction. It opened on 1 October 1998 and celebrates its birthday every year on that date, whatever the weekday. The entrance is at the side of the building, down into the cellar, and in the warmer months the club also runs a beer garden with quizzes and flea markets. The programme is broad: weekend parties on two floors range from hip hop and dancehall to Italo disco, new wave, indie and small electronic raves, while weeknights bring live concerts, open decks and a hip hop open mic.
