Funk Tribu Slows the Pace on New EP ‘LIFE’

Funk Tribu returns with LIFE, a four track EP on his own TRIBE label, a euphoric record built around slowing down at the peak of his rise.

Funk Tribu has released LIFE, a four track EP that lands today on his own label, TRIBE. The Bogotá born, Berlin based producer built the record around a single question: what happens when a career running at full speed needs to slow down.

A concept in four parts

LIFE moves across four states, soul (alma), mind (mente), body (cuerpo) and the bonus closer life (vida). The framework is not decoration. Funk Tribu wrote the project during a long run of touring, at the point where the relentless pace the industry treats as normal stopped feeling sustainable. Rather than pushing further outward, the music turns inward, reflecting on balance, reconnection and success measured on his own terms. A set of connected films runs alongside the release, sharing the same world rather than illustrating each track directly.

From Phonky Tribu to the world’s biggest stages

The EP arrives on the back of a fast climb. Funk Tribu broke through with Phonky Tribu, a track that passed 100 million streams and pulled a self taught DJ onto the main circuit almost overnight. Sets at UNVRS, Fabric London, Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Sónar, EDC, Timewarp and Lollapalooza followed, along with his debut album Against All Odds. His sound sits in the euphoric, trance leaning corner of modern club music, and LIFE keeps that identity with vocals threaded through every track.

Inside the tracks

reborn (alma) opens in an expansive, euphoric space built around a large emotional breakdown. where are you taking me? (mente), a collaboration with Dillistone, is vocal led from the first bar with tight, playful percussion underneath. this is the moment (cuerpo) turns sharper and more aggressive, driven by acid lines with angelic vocals cutting across the top. Bonus track life (vida) closes the record as a quiet moment of reflection. LIFE also arrives as a limited edition vinyl, Funk Tribu’s first release on wax.

TRIBE keeps building

Launched in 2025, TRIBE has grown from a label into a collective, with early releases such as Azul and Hold On and records from rising names like Afem Syko, Linds and BK. The momentum has carried back home too. Funk Tribu recently sold out two nights at Bogotá’s Coliseo MedPlus in front of more than twenty thousand people, days after the city council recognised his contribution to Colombian culture with the Nota de Estilo.

Our read

There is a quiet provocation running through LIFE. Club culture rarely rewards artists for easing off, and Funk Tribu has chosen to build a whole record around doing exactly that at the moment his stock is highest. The euphoric, trance tinted sound keeps the floors moving, but the idea underneath it, that momentum has a ceiling, is the part worth sitting with.
