WHOLE United Queer Festival (Gräfenhainichen, Germany) 2027

WHOLE United Queer Festival returns to Ferropolis from 30 July to 2 August 2027, staging four days of queer electronic music inside a decommissioned open cast lignite mine near Graefenhainichen in Saxony-Anhalt. The site is known as the City of Iron: five enormous mining excavators, the largest weighing nearly two thousand tonnes, left standing on a peninsula between two lakes. Few festival sites anywhere look like it.

WHOLE is organised collectively by queer party crews from across Europe and beyond, with each collective curating its own stage rather than the festival booking a single bill. That structure has kept the programming unusually varied, running from ambient and experimental work through to hard techno, and it has also given the festival a reputation built on community rather than headliners. The event is explicitly a safer space project, with consent and awareness policies published in advance and enforced on site.

Camping runs on the peninsula for the full four days and is part of the festival rather than an add on. Ferropolis sits around an hour from Leipzig and 90 minutes from Berlin, with shuttle buses from Dessau and Lutherstadt Wittenberg stations. The 2027 line up and ticket details had not been published at the time of writing. For queer electronic music specifically, WHOLE is the European music festival that others measure against.
