About Sputnik Springbreak
Sputnik Spring Break returns to the Halbinsel Pouch near Bitterfeld from 14 to 17 May 2027, four days on the peninsula in the Goitzschesee. MDR Sputnik, the public radio station, run the festival, which makes it one of the very few large German festivals produced by a broadcaster.
The Goitzschesee is a flooded former lignite mine in Saxony-Anhalt, now one of the largest artificial lakes in Germany, and the Pouch peninsula runs out into the middle of it. The site gives the festival water on three sides and a beach, which is where the spring break framing comes from.
Line up, tickets and travel information are published through the MDR Sputnik site. Bitterfeld is 40 minutes from Leipzig and an hour and a half from Berlin by direct train, with both cities served by international airports. Mid May in Saxony-Anhalt is mild at around 18 degrees. For a German music festival on a lake, Sputnik Spring Break is the one that opens the eastern season.
