Medival Festival (Gerstungen, Germany) 2027

Medival Festival returns to the ruins of Burg Brandenburg above Lauchroeden in Thuringia from 16 to 18 July 2027, staging its electronic programme inside an 800 year old castle site. The event has run since 2015 under the Gerstungen promoter SHC-Events and has settled into a deliberately small format: roughly 2,000 visitors, around 50 artists and four stages spread across the hillside. Organisers quote a recommendation rate of nine out of ten from previous editions, which is the sort of number a festival of this size tends to live on.

The programming leans on German house and techno rather than headline bookings, with the 2025 edition featuring Schrotthagen, Lexer and SaltySis among others. Alongside the main stages the weekend carries a workshop strand and a camping site, and the organisers also run Medival in Concert, a separate series staged at Wartburg castle in Eisenach that has hosted Dominik Eulberg, Einmusik and Natascha Polke. The 2027 artist list had not been announced at the time of writing.

Getting there means heading for the Thuringian Forest near the Hessian border, with Eisenach the nearest larger town. Camping is included in the festival layout and tickets are sold directly through the festival website. For anyone mapping out a summer in central Germany, this is a castle ruin music festival that trades scale for setting.
