About Affenkafig Festival
Affenkaefig Festival returns to the airfield at Mendig on 11 and 12 June 2027, two days of electronic music on the former military field in the Eifel. The site includes the underground hangars that give the Mendig airfield its reputation, and the festival has used them for hardcore programming in past years.
Mendig sits on volcanic ground in the Vulkaneifel, and the hangars were cut into the lava rock, which produces rooms no promoter could build. Affenkaefig has run there for years, publishing an aftermovie for each edition.
Tickets, camping and travel information are published through the festival’s own site, which also runs a flex option and an app. Mendig is around 40 minutes from Koblenz and an hour from Cologne and Bonn by road, with Frankfurt Hahn an hour away and Cologne Bonn the larger airport. Mid June in the Eifel is mild at around 20 degrees. For a German airfield music festival, Affenkaefig has the most unusual rooms.
