EQ is a nightclub and bar at 1271 University Avenue in Hillcrest, San Diego, and a home for the neighbourhood's electronic dance music scene. It opens from noon every day and runs a party almost every night, mixing local promoters, resident DJs and touring guests. The weekly programme includes The Techno Jungle on Thursdays, a driving techno night by Fresh Press with jungle-themed visuals, the free Sanctuary drum and bass night on Tuesdays, Blue Monday with all-vinyl sets from post-punk to glam rock from residents Camilla Robina and Faux Velvet, and the DRESSCODE party on Wednesdays, alongside themed parties such as Bear Night. The club stresses an inclusive, diverse crowd and support for local artists. Entry is 21+ at all times and large bags are not allowed.
