Charlotte de Witte and Yousuke Yukimatsu Deliver Debut B2B in New York

Charlotte de Witte has headlined almost every room worth headlining, but she had never done this. On Saturday 8 August the Belgian techno figurehead stepped up at Under the K Bridge Park in Brooklyn for the first back-to-back set of her career, sharing the booth with Japanese cult favourite Yousuke Yukimatsu. Both had already played solo earlier in the day. The B2B was the moment the crowd had stayed for.

On paper the pairing looks like a collision. De Witte built her name on peak-time industrial techno, the KNTXT sound engineered for festival mainstages, and she arrives in 2026 off the back of her Amor EP, the KNTXT single playing above, and the audiovisual live show The Resistance. Yukimatsu works the other way round. His open-format sets fold acid, gabber and rock edits into techno, and the Osaka DJ only committed to music full time after surgery for a brain tumour in 2016. His Boiler Room Tokyo set crossed millions of views in 2025 and turned him into an international booking almost overnight.

The two are less far apart than the labels suggest. Yukimatsu has said he plays a lot of KNTXT records in his own sets, and that shared vocabulary is what let them trade so freely through the night. Under the K Bridge Park, the open-air space beneath the Kosciuszko Bridge, gave the whole thing its roofless character, all lasers and sky rather than ceiling. De Witte is no stranger to the city either, having run a six-show New York marathon last year.

The TA view. This is where the back-to-back is heading. De Witte has gone B2B before, most memorably alongside Amelie Lens, but those were meetings of allies who already share a sound. Pairing peak-time precision with an open-format wildcard is riskier, and on this evidence far more interesting. Expect promoters to keep matching opposites rather than lookalikes.
