When Pigs Fly NYE (Melbourne, Australia) 2026

When Pigs Fly returns to the Collingwood Children’s Farm in Abbotsford on 31 December 2026 for its fifth year at the site, a New Year’s Eve event the organisers call Naarm’s cutest paddock party. The farm sits on the Yarra in inner Melbourne, a working city farm with paddocks running down to the river.

Holding a New Year festival on a children’s farm is as unlikely as it sounds and entirely the point. The site is three kilometres from the Melbourne CBD but feels rural, and the format has built a following across five editions on the strength of that contrast alone.

Tickets are sold through Eventbrite. The Collingwood Children’s Farm is a short walk from Victoria Park station and reachable by tram and bike along the Yarra trail, which matters on a night when central Melbourne is difficult to drive in. The festival publishes films from previous editions, including a Surprise Chef selection set from 2023. For a Melbourne New Year music festival, there is nothing else quite like it.
