About The Sugar Club

The Sugar Club is a music venue and late-night club at 8 Leeson Street Lower in Dublin 2. It opened in 1999 in the former Irish Film Theatre, and the room keeps its cinema roots, with plush tiered banquette seating, candlelit tables and a 4.5 by 3 metre screen for visuals and film screenings. The main venue holds 150 seated or 350 seated and standing, alongside an outdoor terrace and the Side Bar, the former green room, which hosts late DJ sets. The venue specialises in hip hop, jazz, soul, afrobeat and world music, and past guests include Erykah Badu, Thundercat, BADBADNOTGOOD, Roy Ayers and Gregory Porter. It runs a Funktion-One sound system with in-house DJ equipment, and alongside gigs it hosts comedy, podcasts, screenings and late club shows, such as DJ Krush on 3 October 2026.
