About The Island

The Island is a basement club in the former Bridewell Police Station in Bristol city centre, reached from Nelson Street through an alley past the old cells and the prison exercise yard. The building is run by the arts charity Artspace Lifespace, which houses more than 100 resident artists there along with circus, dance and music studios and a gallery, and money spent in the club supports those affordable studios. The club reopened on 27 September 2025 under an all-female management team with Phase Fatale headlining, and keeps a no phone camera rule on the dancefloor. Its programme is underground electronic music from Bristol promoters: techno from RTN and Wormhole, house and leftfield nights, drum and bass from Cirrina Sessions, plus guests such as Regis and DJ Marcelle.
