About JUNKYARD

JUNKYARD is an alternative cultural centre on the site of a former scrapyard in Dortmund's Nordstadt, running since 2016 at Schlägelstraße 57. Programming is split between an indoor event hall and an open-air area, with concerts, club nights, readings, comedy, cabaret and exhibitions. Past guests named by the venue include Charlotte de Witte, Lost Frequencies, Purple Disco Machine, Deichkind, Marteria and Trettmann. Electronic nights lean towards trance, hard techno and schranz, with autumn 2026 dates such as Trancemaster Krause All Night Long and Schranz is Back with Felix Kröcher. Much of the site is built from reused shipping containers, which hold the toilets, backstage rooms, bars and even the outdoor stage, and the five-metre outer walls carry what the venue calls Dortmund's largest graffiti mural. JUNKYARD is operated by Home of Freaks GmbH.
