Untold 2026 Recap: Techno Owned the Galaxy Stage as Cluj Drew Over 500,000

Untold drew a record 500,000-plus to Cluj-Napoca. Beyond the Mainstage, the Galaxy Stage kept techno front and centre with Joseph Capriati, Solomun and Sara Landry.

Untold pulled more than 500,000 people to Cluj-Napoca between 6 and 9 August, a fresh attendance record for the Romanian giant and its biggest edition yet. The headlines belonged to Sting, Lewis Capaldi and a returning Martin Garrix, and yet the most rewarding thread of the weekend for dance-music heads ran away from the Mainstage, on the Galaxy Stage, where techno held its ground from dusk to sunrise.

Joseph Capriati anchored that room on Saturday night, and cuts like “Metamorfosi” capture the deep, propulsive sound he carried into Cluj.

The numbers set the scale. This eleventh edition drew over 500,000 across four days, up from 470,000 in 2025, with Saturday alone welcoming more than 135,000 as the single busiest day. Untold now sits among the world’s top three festivals in DJ Mag’s ranking, and the 2026 turnout backed that billing with one of its most diverse lineups to date.

Saturday was the pivot. While Martin Garrix delivered his familiar Mainstage spectacle of light and pyro, and Lewis Capaldi supplied the weekend’s most emotional moment, the Galaxy Stage told a different story. Budai House Clique and Marwan Dua warmed the floor before Joseph Capriati, one of techno’s most respected names, took over with a driving, melodic set. Solomun followed and turned the small hours into a long, hypnotic build, with Holy Priest adding a harder edge.

The closing day kept the pressure on, with more than 120,000 through the gates. Sara Landry brought her uncompromising hard techno, Jamie Jones held down the house end, and Andy C flew the flag for drum and bass, before Afrojack B2B R3HAB shut the whole thing down on Sunday night.

Our take: Untold’s real trick is scale without dilution. A festival that can sell a Sting concert and still hand a prime slot to Sara Landry and Joseph Capriati is doing something most mega-events cannot. The pop names move the tickets; the Galaxy Stage keeps the credibility. For anyone tracking where techno travels next, half a million people in Cluj is a number worth remembering.

Untold has already opened 2027 passes, priced from 99 euros before they climb to 249, so this record may not stand for long. If you want the full picture of how big this thing has become, our look at the Untold 2024 lineup and the festival’s 2026 free health-screening initiative show a brand thinking well beyond the dancefloor.
