Melodies will never go out of style, whether you like it or not. They can caress the soul or ignite the spirit, be gentle whispers or the main element. As poetic as it may sound, it is true. And when these melodies become the heart of a label, it’s hard for anything to go wrong.
Melodies are the essence of OPID Records, an Austrian label founded earlier this year by Peter Woergartner, Daniel Hoschek, and Oliver Schernhuber. Together, the three have done an excellent job of curating a catalog filled with remarkable works around Afro, deep, progressive, and organic house, featuring well-known names in the scene such as Lorenzo Al Dino, T.Markakis, and Max Porcelli.
In just October and November, 2024, a total of 5 new releases will be launched. Among the highlights is an original work by one of the label heads, Oliver Schernhuber, scheduled for the 22nd of next month. The agenda also includes the debut of Napsoul, MAEXX, and the return of Michael Nowak, who has already placed several tracks in Beatport’s Top 100 with his releases on OPID.
With careful curation, a keen eye for how artists craft their melodies, and a strong sense of community, OPID Records has shown in these first months that it is a very promising label in the scene. If you resonate with the musical DNA presented, you need to keep an eye on the upcoming releases.
