About Sziget Festival
Sziget Festival returns from 10 to 14 August 2027, taking over its island site in Budapest for five days of what the organisers call the Island of Freedom. Sziget is one of the largest festivals in Europe by attendance, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the continent, and its scale comes from treating the site as a temporary city rather than a set of stages: Sziget City covers services, catering and accommodation across the island.
Passes for 2027 opened at 349 euros for the five day ticket plus a 23 euro handling fee, with a reduced 21 and under pass at 279 euros plus 18 euros and a VIP five day pass at 569 euros plus 37. The programme spans headline pop and rock, hip hop and a substantial electronic offering, and the organisers publish the bill in waves from the winter onwards.
Sustainability is handled under the Green Sziget banner, including a reusable cup scheme and a public carbon calculator that puts average emissions at 77.98 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per person per day in 2025. The official app carries the timetable and site map. Budapest Airport is around 40 minutes from the island and the city is connected by direct trains from Vienna, Prague and Munich. It is the Hungarian music festival that anchors the European August.
