About Pontoon

Pontoon is an open-air bar and music venue on the Pest bank of the Danube in Budapest, at the foot of the Chain Bridge on Id. Antall József rakpart. It started on the embankment about ten years ago, moved onto a boat for a while and then came back to the riverside. There is no door and no entry fee: through the summer season it opens every day from noon until 4am, with free concerts and DJ sets from Hungarian artists and international guests, from electronic music and world music to live bands. Its terraces look across the river to the Buda side and the Chain Bridge. Drinks come in reusable cups with a HUF 500 deposit, and tables can be reserved for HUF 5,000 per person, which is spent at the bar.
