About Rex Club

Rex Club lies beneath the Grand Rex, the 1932 Art Deco cinema on Boulevard Poissonnière. The basement dance hall, once called Le Rêve, became the Rex Club in 1973 and later turned to rock and new wave. Its electronic story began in 1988 with an acid house night that brought a young Laurent Garnier over from Manchester. A 1995 refit made it a fully electronic club and turned the DJ booth to face the floor, and in 2006 it installed a d&b audiotechnik system with more than 60 speaker points. Laurent Garnier, Daft Punk, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin have all played here. Current residencies include D'Julz's Bass Culture, Ivan Smagghe, Chloé and Traumer, with nights running from midnight to 7am.
