About I Candelai
I Candelai is a live club and cultural space on Via dei Candelai in the historic centre of Palermo, in the Il Capo quarter. It was founded in January 1996 as a cultural association, with a large hall on the ground floor and smaller rooms upstairs used for exhibitions, talks, screenings, workshops and a bar. The club mixes concerts with club nights: over the years its stage has hosted artists such as Subsonica, Afterhours, Mark Lanegan, Calcutta and Liars, while weekend parties bring house and electronic DJs, from the Tea Dance and Nomad Club series to RAWCHIC. It also runs theatre nights, a vintage market and festivals that pair international names with local acts. The venue is run by IDDI s.r.l.
