About Transmissions XVIII
Transmissions reaches its eighteenth edition in Ravenna from 19 to 21 November 2026, three days built around the Teatro Rasi with further programming in other venues across the city. The festival has run since the late 2000s and sits at the point where psychedelic rock, experimental electronic music and improvisation meet.
The Teatro Rasi is the anchor: a thirteenth century church converted into a theatre, now home to the Ravenna Teatro company, and a room with the acoustics for the kind of long form, volume dependent music Transmissions programmes. Using other venues alongside it lets the festival run smaller shows, films and talks without breaking the rhythm of the main nights.
The festival is supported by the Comune di Ravenna, the Regione Emilia-Romagna and the Fondazione del Monte, which is how an event this specialised survives in a city of 160,000 people. Tickets are sold through Dice. Ravenna is an hour from Bologna by train and 90 minutes from Venice, with the Byzantine mosaics that made the city a World Heritage site a short walk from the theatre. For an Italian experimental music festival, Transmissions has outlasted almost everything else.
