About Tenax
Tenax is a club on Via Pratese in the north-west of Florence, near Peretola, opened in September 1981 by a group of young entrepreneurs during the city's new wave years. In the 1980s it was a live venue as much as a club, with concerts by Spandau Ballet, New Order, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Tears for Fears and Litfiba, and it became a meeting point for artists, designers and musicians. In 1995 the company Nozze di Figaro took it over and staged more than 400 live shows in six seasons.
From the 2000s the focus moved to DJs with Nobody's Perfect, the Saturday house party where Alex Neri, Ralf, Louie Vega, François Kevorkian and Dimitri From Paris played. Nobody's Perfect still returns to the calendar. Today Tenax runs Saturday nights across two rooms with house, techno and minimal guests such as Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, Body and Soul and The Martinez Brothers, and holds about 1,000 people.
